Prohibit council ‘unisex only’ gender neutral amenities blocks
The Fraser Coast Regional Council redevelopment of Scarness, Burrum Heads, Pialba and Torquay Caravan Parks will be amenities’ blocks that are ‘UNISEX ONLY’. Council has already implemented this at the new Scarness Caravan Park without community consultation and has further advised, Unisex toilets are planned for all amenity upgrades at Council owned beachfront caravan parks.
Council is failing to:
- protect women and girls from predator males who have psychological issues, or perverts spying and filming over cubicles
- protect all visitors and the vulnerable from the opposite sex that may be affected by substances, are dangerous or have mental health issues, which may increase instances of violence and sexual assaults
- provide all visitors a choice of which separate amenities they wish to use (male, female or unisex) based on their personal safety requirements, religious and cultural grounds, or biological sex
- ensure women, mothers and girls feel safe and comfortable avoiding confrontation by restricting access to females only
- provide safety, dignity, security, respect, and privacy catering to all visitor’s preferred personal safe spaces, which could impact tourism negatively

Individuals have a right to feel safe especially when pants are around their knees or ankles. The vulnerability of many have not been taken into account and is discriminatory towards male/female gender roles
Unisex toilets ? No way am I as a female aged person would feel safe in that situation. Please keep male and female toilets separate.
