Mirani MP, Stephen Andrew joins forces with the Katter Australia Party

Stephen Andrew, MP for Mirani, announced today that he will be standing as a  Katter’s Australian Party candidate at the upcoming state election in October.

Mr Andrew said he made the decision to ensure the best outcome for his electorate, and the state.

“In the end it was a ‘no-brainer’ he said.

“Joining KAP gives Queensland its best chance of securing a strong and united cross-bench in the next parliament”.

“One that is 100 percent focussed on the concerns, interests and values of regional Queensland”.

Mr Andrew praised Robbie Katter and the other members of the Katter’s Australian Party, Nick Dametto and Shane Knuth, saying he had always enjoyed a great working relationship with the KAP team in Parliament.

Mr Andrew said he had spoken with many people throughout his electorate over the past few weeks, and everyone had been very positive and encouraging about joining KAP.

“The Katter’s Australian Party is held in very high regard in my area” Mr Andrew said.

“KAP are well-known as staunch advocates for their electorates, who work hard to promote the issues that matter most to their constituents”.

Mr Andrew said he was looking forward to working with Robbie, Nick, Shane in the run up to the October State Election and to hopefully retaining his seat.

“Together, I think we could be in a position to make a real difference for ordinary Queenslanders, in the next Parliament.”

  1. Hi Stephen,
I’m aware you are firmly opposed to the Pioneer Burdekin Pumped Hydro scheme but I’d like to know your position on the Capricornia Energy Hub in progress adjoining Eungella Dam. It’s a pumped hydro as well as a solar farm and wind turbine farm.
