Mackay is the coal mining centre of Queensland and Paget is the largest mining services industrial precinct in the southern hemisphere!

We have more wide loads in our roads than any other district in Australia, and almost daily there are vehicle crashes on the Bruce and Peak Downs Highways with NO designated Heavy Vehicle rest area north of Waverley Creek (just north of rocky)

At the moment Heavy Vehicles, Caravans and RV’s have to resort to parking on side roads and on the side of roads due to there being no other availability!

This is not good enough, our truckers are the backbone of society, travelling the length and breadth of this land to ensure our shops are stocked and our industries are kept moving, they deserve so much more than what is currently available, and this land in Paget is the perfect spot for a Heavy Vehicle rest stop and multi purpose area!
